I often heard the expression that “it’s impossible” or “you could never do that” or “dream on”. One day I did one of those things that I was told I was unable to do, and I realized that it was possible. I started to realized that, as soon as I thought I could do it, I gave myself a good chance to succeed.
I now think in terms of, “I can do this” and “what do I need to do to do this.” Someone once told me that “the brain actually controls your body and tells your hands, legs, etc. what to do.” So if you tell yourself that you can’t do it you are really telling your body not to do it.
I also learned that, just because you think you can do it, that it does not guarantee that you will do it. All you can do is give yourself a chance to do things.
I found that once I believed in myself, that I thought I could do things that others told me I couldn’t, that I not only did things but I also felt good about myself.
Therefore, “I Can Do It ” has become my self-coaching, cheerleading approach to doing my personal best. I just take a few breathes, whisper my little phrase and go for it.
