Music Mentoring™ Song Tips
How To Get Started in Songwriting
One way to get started is to take a favorite song of yours, keep the tune and work on changing the words. You may want to use our doodle away section to help you sketch some ideas down.
A good way to approach songwriting is to develop four lines of lyric on a topic, (every second line should rhyme and of course it all has to have some sense to it). The topic should relate to business in way that it talks to your future, your career, what you want to do with your life.
Writing a whole song may seem like an overwhelming task. As kids submit lyric and we have 12-16 lines of lyric (Maybe more, maybe less) we can compile them in order, assign one of the most specific verses as a chorus, which would be repeated 2-3 times in the song. Often the repeated concept or “Hook line” is the one used for the title. This is a basic song writing structure that we are planning to use with our professional songwriter.
Check out our “Character Building” section to give some ideas for areas to explore.

But I have lots of ideas in my head.
Like what you are.
I’ve got it together. I’ve figured it out.
In my life…
Have faith in yourself
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Give it all you’ve got.
Have the will to carry on
I’m lost and I’m not sure which way to go
Learn to play the game
Business is nothing but a game
You’ve got a place in life, you just have to find you place
Help me out here
I don’t get it
Just give me the answers
Don’t answer a question with a question
Life is a roller coaster, you just have to ride it
You get out of it what you put into it.
I just want to pull you in the right direction, I just want to make a connection
I’m more then a pretty face
