The Strength Within: A Story of Triumph and Overcoming

The question, "Why me?" has followed Jean Ritter from the beginning of her story, as she grew up as the youngest of three raised by a single-mother on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. Leaving behind poverty and trials and tribulations from early in her life through determination and hard work, and graduating from John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx at sixteen years old. Jean briefly attended college, followed by various jobs before deciding to serve her country by joining the Army. After serving multiple combat tours and overseas assignments while rising up in the ranks to become a Chief Warrant Officer Four in the United States Army. Today, as her illustrious Army career is coming to an end; Jean hopes to inspire readers by sharing her story.
